down for at least 2 hours now! just can’t login and of course helpdesk.dkit.ie redirects to forums.dkit.ie so we can’t log official problem either… hence the reason for this site ;-)

time to start up a PC in E130 and open up dkit.ie in a browser? 3 mins 10 seconds…. painfully slow to browse from one site to another.. that’s if connections don’t time out…

college really needs it’s own survey system – there are WAY too many survey emails just being forwarded on by people… why not create a separate survey section on the site where anyone can create surveys and view all results…

go to dkit moodle and click on the ‘validate html’ link at the bottom – you’ll find it doesn’t validate, it returns 10 errors…

lost count of the number of times i read emails giving details of events after the events have taken place – that’s because i have no alerts to tell me when i get emails – the only way i know if i have emails is to log in to my webmail account… (and no, using thunderbird is not an acceptable solution)

You want a message to tell you that you have a message?!

in a nutshell, yes… sounds stupid when you put it like that but without alerts, the likes of twitter, gmail, facebook etc… would be nothing…

i usually just forget about webmail because i’ve no way of getting in to it other than by going to the site & logging in… so if i log in at 9am, i mightn’t log back in until 4pm. If a message is sent at 10am alerting me to some event that’s on at 1pm or 2pm (which often happens), it’s useless.

Is that my fault for not checking my email? Possibly… is it the senders fault for not sending the email days in advance? Definitely. But that confusion & problem would be eliminated by some sort of notification system… gmail is the standard upon which any email service will be judged whether we like it or not.
